Chateau Des Ducs De Joyeuse Description

An ancient fortress-turned-hotel, the Chateau Des Ducs De Joyeuse was built by Jean de Joyeuse – the first Governor of Narbonne and Lieutenant General in Languedoc – in the mid-16th century and completed after his death by his son, Guillaume III. It is the ideal place to stay for those who wish to enjoy the authentic French chateau experience in the heart of Cathar country and penetrate the mysteries of nearby Renne-Le-Château (a key location in the novel The Da Vinci Code.) The 23 double/twin guestrooms subtly blend the medieval tradition of their décor with modern amenities. All are clean and impeccably maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms. Guests can enjoy regional cuisine, prepared with the freshest ingredients, in the lovely restaurant and dine in the beautiful Renaissance courtyard during the summer months.
